THE MYSTERY BEHIND: I AM

Have you ever mistakenly cut your flesh instead of the onion and screamed “Oh God! I am so Foolish! or Messed up in front of people/supervisors and left muttering “I am so Stupid.

I think we have all done this one way or the other. I used to make this mistake till one day God revealed the real meaning of what I’m saying in his language- God language.

God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.”

Exodus 3:14 (NLT)

Mystery of the word ” I AM”

Let’s talk about the two words “I am.”

To us, they are just part of our English language. To the Jewish people of Jesus’ time, those words were part of God’s name.

While there are so many names we call God and rightfully so, one of the major ways he revealed himself was as the “I AM.” In essence, if I don’t want to call him God as he is generally known by, I can call him “I AM” That’s why we sing “You are the Great I AM.” Transcribing this music lyrics to God language, it means “You are the great God.”

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!

John 8:58 (NLT)

He was saying, He was the I am before Abraham. He was(is) God long before Abraham.

The words “I AM” are great words which we take lightly.

Why?

We were created in the image of God. The book of Genesis makes it clear.

Do you know?

It’s not just the Bible but our very own sentences. When asked Who are you?

One of your replies would go like this “I AM………”

The very first phrase is a reflection that we were made in God’s image. A reminder that a part of God is in me. That is why “I AM” comes before any description you give yourself. Through our everyday sentence God is showing us:

• You are made from me. Jesus reiterated what David had earlier said “Don’t you know you are god’s translating to God language,

“Don’t you know you are my little I am’s”

•We are made in his image.

What point is God teaching us from here. Whenever we say “I AM so Foolish! I AM so useless! I AM so ugly!” transcribe that to God language, what do you get?

You demean the great I AM who gave you the privilege of being his little I am’s. You destroy, the image of the great I AM. You see, we limit God by our own mouth. We destroy, the seeds of greatness vested in us.

In Conclusion,

Hope you now see the mystery that lies in that word! Never ever call your self foolish! Never ever call yourself dumb! Why not start declaring great things about you:

I AM so wise
I AM so discerning

As you do these, watch out as your world changes. The great I AM created the world by the words of his mouth. Speak Friend! He has given you full right to.

Words are able to save life and to cause death. So you must accept the result of what you say.
