I didn’t plan to talk about health today, but I feel it’s necessary to share this. It’s day 3 and I’m grateful for health.
Last night, December 2nd, I experienced a severe allergy. My nostrils were completely blocked, and for a moment, I was gasping for air. It was frightening, and I had to quickly administer some first aid to find relief. Later, during my midnight prayers, I felt an overwhelming sense of ease and healing.
This moment reminded me just how precious good health is. Reflecting on 2024, I am profoundly grateful to God that my family and I have enjoyed sound health throughout the year.
In a time when the economic situation in Nigeria makes access to healthcare, medications, and hospital visits increasingly expensive, waking up each day in good health is not just a blessing—it’s a luxury.
I realize that good health is something we often overlook until we face challenges. I’ve heard so many people say they didn’t truly value their health until they lost it. So today, I’m choosing to focus on the positives, to be intentionally grateful for the health I have, and to celebrate the little things—like being able to breathe freely, move around, and live fully.
The Bible beautifully reminds us of the importance of gratitude and health:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases.” – Psalm 103:2-3
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” – Psalm 9:1
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22
Gratitude brings a conscious awareness of the blessings in our lives. I’m writing this post to remind others to appreciate the gift of health. I’m thankful for my health, the health of my family and friends, and God’s faithfulness even in moments of weakness.
Every new day, every breath, and every moment of strength is a reason to be grateful. May we never take these blessings for granted
