Waking up today I was overwhelmed—burdened, restless, and tired. A flood of pending tasks and unanswered questions weighed heavily on my mind, robbing me of any sense of peace. It was a moment of complete vulnerability, and I had a choice: to sink deeper into frustration or to reach out for help.
With a shaky resolve, I whispered the hardest three words: “Father, help me.” In that moment, I wasn’t relying on my own strength—I had none left. It was clear that if God didn’t step in, I would crumble under the weight of it all.
Almost instinctively, I picked up my Bible, and it opened to Psalm 42. As I meditated on the words, I felt a shift. God had been trying to get my attention, but my distractions—the endless cycle of worry and striving—had drowned out His voice.
When I reached verses 5 and 6, I broke down:
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.”
The word “remember” stood out to me—it meant to reflect, to recount, to bring to mind. Suddenly, I realized my gratitude had run dry. In the haze of worry, I had forgotten God’s faithfulness.
I paused, repented, and made a deliberate decision: to feed my spirit with God’s faithfulness and to anchor my soul in praise. The distractions that had consumed me no longer had the same grip. I realized that sometimes God allows us to feel distant so we can be drawn deeper into Him.
Steven Furtick said, “Quietness is the incubation bed of revelation.” It was true. In that moment of stillness, God silenced the noise and reminded me to declare, “Peace! Be still.”
I’ve learned that peace isn’t automatic; it’s a choice we must guard and reclaim when it’s shaken. When your soul moves from peace to frustration or fear, demand peace to return. Align your emotions with God’s promises, not your circumstances.
Today, I am grateful for the redirection, for God’s gentle nudge to refocus on His faithfulness.
Fix your gaze on His goodness, speak of His faithfulness, and let gratitude transform your heart.
I choose to remember. I choose to praise. I choose to rest in His promises.
