30 Days of Gratitude: Day 16- Grateful for the Gift of Prayer Group

Today, I find myself reflecting on something that has truly transformed my life—prayer groups. It started so unexpectedly. One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon a short but powerful video by Apostle Arome. In the video, he spoke passionately about the importance of prayer and how it anchors our lives to God. His words stirred something in me, a longing for deeper accountability and consistency in my prayer life.

As I read through the comments on the post, I noticed a group forming around a unique challenge: praying for 120 days straight, two hours each day. I was immediately intrigued. Could I commit to something so demanding? Would it make a difference? Despite my hesitations, I joined—and that decision changed everything.

Since then, it’s been an incredible journey of transformation, both spiritually and personally. From day one, the experience has been a reminder of 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” As we’ve come together in prayer, we’ve seen firsthand how God hears and answers.

Cold prayer altars have come back to life. Stubborn challenges that seemed immovable have melted away. Answers we thought would take years have come within weeks. And the best part? We’ve seen each other grow. I’ve witnessed shy, hesitant voices transform into bold, confident prayer warriors. I’ve felt my faith deepen and my trust in God’s timing strengthen.

Today, we are on day 118 of the 120-day journey. It’s unbelievable how quickly time has passed. Many of us have joked—and some seriously suggested—that this shouldn’t end. Why stop at 120 days? What if we kept going? What if this became a lifelong commitment to prayer? It’s a beautiful thought, and while it sounds daunting, it’s also a testament to how fulfilling this journey has been.

When I think about the power of prayer, I’m reminded of Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This scripture perfectly describes the peace I’ve experienced through this group. Even on days when life feels overwhelming, those two hours of prayer serve as a refuge, a reminder that God’s presence is my anchor.

Another scripture that has kept me motivated is James 5:16: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” When we come together as a group, lifting our voices and hearts to heaven, the atmosphere shifts. There’s power in corporate prayer, and it’s something I wish everyone could experience.

This journey has taught me that prayer isn’t just about asking God for things; it’s about relationships. It’s about aligning my heart with His will and letting Him shape me in ways I couldn’t imagine. It’s about trusting that even when the answer doesn’t come immediately, He is still faithful.

If you’re reading this and feeling like your prayer life has grown cold, be encouraged. Start small. Find a community or even one accountability partner. Prayer doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful—it just needs consistency. As Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” God honors our gatherings, big or small.

So here’s to day 118 and beyond. Whether we stop at 120 or continue indefinitely, I know this journey will leave an indelible mark on all of us. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.
